 Nomination Fees & Our Goal for the Future

The American Sports Hall of Fame was created to recognize deserving athletes, coaches, officials, sports writers, and contributors based on their achievements, impact, and contributions to sport.

Our goal is simple: recognition should ultimately be based entirely on merit—not on someone's ability or willingness to pay a nomination fee.

Currently, a modest nomination fee is necessary to help offset the administrative costs associated with operating and growing the American Sports Hall of Fame. Maintaining a national Hall of Fame requires countless hours of research, reviewing nominations, maintaining and developing the website, communicating with nominees and honorees, creating recognition materials, promoting inductees, seeking corporate sponsors, and administering each annual induction class.

100% of nomination fees are used to support promotion, administration, website operations, and the recognition of honorees.

As the American Sports Hall of Fame grows its Corporate Partnership Program, however, our goal is to move away from charging nomination fees altogether. We hope corporate sponsorships will eventually provide the financial support necessary to cover these operating expenses and allow nominations to be submitted at no cost.

Until that goal is reached, the nomination fee helps make the continued operation, growth, and recognition efforts of the Hall possible.

One nomination provides consideration for induction into the 2026 Class of the American Sports Hall of Fame.

Nominations never expire. Once an individual has been officially nominated, that nominee remains eligible for consideration for induction in subsequent years without having to be nominated again.

• Complete the downloadable nomination form.
